Welcome to Queen Elizabeth School and Sports College
Welcome to the website of Queen Elizabeth School and Sports College. I hope as you read it you get a feel for our vibrant learning community and the student centred focus of all that we do.
These are very exciting times for our school as we prepare for the construction of a brand new building with state of the art facilities. We are the only Warwickshire school to appear on the Priority Schools Building Programme. Plans are well advanced to go to tender in early 2014.
On the back of our best ever exam results in the Summer of 2013 the school is really going places.
We are proud to serve the market town of Atherstone in North Warwickshire. Many of our students live in the town but a significant and growing number travel in from neighbouring villages. We are a relatively small school of around five hundred and fifty students which means we can offer a full curriculum whilst being small enough to know students as individuals.
Sport is important to us and is a strength of our school. We use sport to motivate and engage young people and also for developing leadership qualities in our students. Our work in this area is highly regarded nationally and the Sports Village is at the hub of sport in Atherstone.
We have strong links with schools in China, Romania, Slovakia and France with regular opportunities for students to visit these and other countries. Families regularly host our overseas visitors. We have just been re-awarded the prestigious Full International School Award by the British Council.
However at the heart of or school ethos is our relentless focus on learning through high quality teaching and support. All visitors comment on the calm and orderly environment and the excellent behaviour of our wonderful students.
Please contact me if you want to find out more about us. I will be happy to show you round.
