The conversion of Queen Elizabeth School and Sports College into The Queen Elizabeth Academy is firmly on track to happen for 1st September 2014. I am delighted that we will be joining the Erudition Schools Trust an incredibly forward looking trust who are already proving that our decision to go with this trust was undoubtedly the best decision the school has made in a very long time. Possibly ever. Click on "Read More" for further info.
Results this year have broken all records and the school has improved on all measures. Most impressive are the Maths and English GCSE results. 75% of entries were at or above C grade in Maths and 75% at or above C in English both showing an improvement on our previous best results last year by 10% in maths and 14% in English. The percentage of students getting C or above in Maths and English has also risen to an amazing 66% - a rise of nearly 14% since last year. Both Maths and English results are well above last year’s national average figures for these measures. Many other subjects were above national averages and the number of A and A* grades has leapt impressively too. The percentage of the year group gaining 5 or more passes at C or above including English and Maths and the percentage of students on the SEN register who have been successful were also up impressively.
Headteacher, Tony Wilmot, commented “These results provide further evidence of the sustained and continual improvement at this school. English results have now risen by 29% over the past 3 years and maths by 27% over the past 4 years. This has come about through some fantastic teaching and students really engaging in their learning. I am particularly pleased with our improvement over time of the progress students are making. There is no doubt that students are thriving and doing extremely well academically at this school on top, of course, of all the fantastic extra-curricular opportunities we offer including our global links”
