Congratulations to all our students who received their GCSE results this year. All records were smashed by this hugely talented group of students. Our headline figure, the government’s blue riband measure of 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths, has risen by nearly 11% in one year to over 52%. This is the first time we have achieved over 50% and shows the fantastic progress the school is making. Both English and maths achieved well over 60% pass rates. Maths moved from 58% in 2012 to 65.5 % this year whilst English moved up from 47% in 2012 to 61.1% in 2013 both hugely impressive improvements. Both subjects showed students across all ability levels made excellent progress again great testament to the high quality of teaching and learning within these two key curriculum areas. The curriculum leaders in these two subjects deserve great credit too for delivering such fantastic results.
With all but 2 students leaving with at least 5 GCSE certificates it is hardly surprising that there was a celebratory feel to results day this year. Headteacher Tony Wilmot was equally jubilant “This year’s results have moved this school to a new level and set the bar for future years. The way in which students and staff worked together to achieve these results makes me proud. The teaching and support that students received was second to none and the way in which students embraced the support on offer was also impressive. All staff and students should feel immensely pleased with what they have achieved together and I am delighted that almost every student is now able to move forward onto the next stage of their education and training just as they had hoped and planned.”
